Awesome Floor-to-Ceiling UltraWideScreen

QED provided a stunning ultrawidescreen projection system last month for the UK Vicharan tour of His Divine Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj at the magnificent BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, Neasden - the largest traditionally built Hindu Temple outside India.

His Holiness was in UK for the Centenary celebrations of BAPS. The breathtaking stone and marble Mandir has become the icon of Hindu culture in the western hemisphere. It is a renowned holy place of prayer and peace and is widely acknowledged as one of the true wonders of the modern world. the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) is a socio-spiritual organisation with more than 700 mandirs and 3,300 centres worldwide.

QED provided three 15,000 ANSI Sanyo XF47 LCD projectors and a Vista Spyder 344 processor to display the images onto the giant 62ft by 18ft screen. We front projected the seamless floor-to-ceiling backdrop which displayed some of the highest quality graphics that we had ever seen.

The highly dedicated BAPS technical team worked closely with QED to create and deliver a backdrop of truly awesome quality, featuring ultra high resolution DVI-D graphics, uncompressed High Definition video and multiple SDI live camera sources. The Spyder outputs were sent to the projectors via DVI-Fibre optic links ensuring sharp graphic detail and uncompressed colour reproduction.

Probably the most remarkable feature was that the incredible floor-to-ceiling backdrop was entirely FRONT PROJECTED using wide angle lenses with the projectors being flown at a seemingly impossible angle. The projection angle was so severe that it allowed almost an entire stage area to be used without encroaching into the projection beams.

Not surprisingly the projector line-ups were extremely difficult but the results certainly speak for themselves!
